Happy 1^st Birthday Caleb

A little over a year ago (because I am late posting this blog), we got to meet our precious little guy! So many people in his family were so happy to finally meet him that day and in the weeks ahead (and to finally have a baby in the family).

It has been a crazy year – Mark and I have learned a whole lot about parenting. Here’s a few:

-If he’s wearing clean clothes, it doesn't matter if anything matches.

-If he’s wearing clothes, it doesn’t matter if they are clean.

-When baby slaps you in the head, it hurts.

-Babies bite, and that hurts too.

-Baby hugs are THE BEST THING EVER!

-Sick babies are so cuddly, but it breaks your heart when they look at you with those “I don’t feel good” eyes.

-Dirt happens.
-No one will care years from now that our house is a bit messy - but we will remember that we spent more time playing with Caleb and goofing off than cleaning - so we are going to goof off, play, and go on adventures and save the cleaning for another day and time.
-Kids don't care if you go on cheap adventures, or expensive ones - so we will go on cheap ones and save for college. 

-If you get to finish a whole cup of coffee without reheating it, that is a successful morning.

-You CAN function on less sleep. And, there is no such thing as catching up on sleep.

-Once you have a baby, dishes and laundry have babies too.

-You have to schedule in time to “relax”…but not too much time, because you have to go to sleep before baby wakes up at 5:45am Every. Single. Day.

-It’s so cute when baby only wants you – makes your heart feel special. But, then, when baby won’t go to anyone else, it gets annoying because you have lots of laundry and dishes to do.

-When baby is playing by himself and it gets quiet – he’s doing something, or eating something he shouldn't  Run, FAST!
