My Grandma Race passed away on Friday night and she leaves a profound emptiness in our family. She was always there for us Race kids as we grew up. She’d be there when we got home from school, take us downtown with her, make snacks for us, and when we got older, she’d ride with us when we went to run errands because she just liked being with us. She even taught me how to crochet. She’d try to be stern with us when we’d act up, but she was just so darn nice, it never worked. But, we will always remember how she cared for us – unconditionally and consistently. She was a wonderful grandma!
Grandma Race’s 5th grand child, baby boy Hall, is just 9 weeks (or so) away from making his way into this world. I am sad that our baby boy won’t get to meet her. But, he will know her because we will make sure of it! We will tell him stories and he will love his great grandma through us because we will remember her. And, the promise that Grandma Race is in heaven makes me happy for her as she is no longer in pain, and happy for me because I will see her again someday!
Grandma Race, I love you and always will! Look in on us once in a while….because we will be remembering you!
These pictures are from my trip to Cali in February
This is my brother, Tim. He and Grandma used to rub each other's head.
This is me and grandma several years ago when I went to Cali for Christmas
